Mary Ruth Denzin, 88, of rural Buffalo, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society of Howard Lake.
She was born October 10, 1937, in Rockford Township, Wright County, Minnesota, to Walter and Elsa (Engel) Berglund.
Mary was baptized on November 21, 1937, instructed in the Lutheran Catechism, and confirmed in the Christian faith on September 14, 1952.
Mary graduated from Buffalo High School in 1956.
On May 27, 1961, Mary Ruth Berglund and Harvey F. Denzin were united in holy marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Mary formerly worked in the pharmaceutical labs at Upsher-Smith.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, baking, cake decorating, horseshoes, traveling, and fishing.
Mary was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Harvey F. Denzin; children Marjorie (Mike) Stewig, Brenda (Dale) Theis, and Harley (Sheri) Denzin; grandchildren Blair Stewig, Hanna Stewig, James Theis, Rachelle Triden, Rebecca Long-Vehrenkamp, and Ellery Denzin; great-grandchildren Poppy Theis, Peyton Theis, and Wesley Long-Vehrenkamp; siblings Carol Oswald and Glen “Sonny” Berglund; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Janet Berglund, Lydia Heins, Lillian Conzet, Harvey Berglund, and Stanley Berglund.
Funeral services for Mary Ruth Denzin will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Saturday, June 27, one hour before the service at the church.
Casket bearers will be her six grandchildren: Blair Stewig, Hanna Stewig, James Theis, Rachelle Triden, Rebecca Long-Vehrenkamp, and Ellery Denzin.
